Henna Tattoo from a Bridal Shower - Ankle Bangle

bold henna anklet tattoo
henna tattoo for the ankle I was very happy to be invited to do henna tattoo for guests at an intimate bridal shower this weekend.
The decorations were fabulous! The mood was so lovely.. and as there were only a few guests present, everyone was able to choose an intricate henna design if they wanted one.
Of course, some simple designs are just as lovely as the more intricate ones.
However, I was very happy to be able to do this bold henna tattoo in an anklet cuff style.
What I invite you to notice is that the bold style of this design is a perfect completment to the clients ankle.
She was delighted... and I was happy to offer this modified traditional design.
For events where it is reasonable to expect that most people will not choose to have henna applied to the hands I often make the paste more liquid.. giving it the greatest opportunity to stain the skin.
I was also very happy to have my beautiful assistant on hand to apply lemon sugar to all the designs as they were drying.
This additional service really seemed to help the guests feel more pampered!

If you live in North East Florida an would like to hostess a henna party, please feel welcome to contact the Studio at (904) 993-7466.

Bridal Henna Tattoo for the palms of the hands.

bridal henna tattoo for the palms
Sometimes a picture just speaks for itself.

Here are the palms of a happy bride just 24 hours after the past was removed.

The henna powder used here was from the souks of Dubai. (Yes, this is the henna powder used in all henna kits!)

The color was even darker on her wedding day.

Artwork by Ann George of Spirit Vision Henna Tattoo, Jacksonville, Florida.

Bridal henna by appointment. Please call 904-993-7466 for more information.

Henna Tattoo for the Foot - Bridal Style

Here is an example of a bridal style foot tattoo. This is a fairly traditional design.. and one that was fun & easy to do.

Of course, the most important part of successful henna tattoo is that the client is satisfied! In this case, I am happy to say that Miss Linda very much liked her mehndi.

I also feel that it is important to create a tattoo that "fits" not only the personality of the client, but also suits the part of the body that I am working with.

Come visit again as I have lots more photos to upload.

Henna Tattoo for Samadhi Belly Dancer

henna tattoo on the front of the belly
side view of lotus henna tattoo pattern
open lotus henna tattoo, lower back tattoo
side view henna waist tattoo I am always happy to have the chance to tattoo the belly, and I must thank all the tribal dancers of the Samadhi Dance troupe for supporting the art of henna tattoo here in Jacksonville, Florida!

Today I am posting pics of a wrap around belly tattoo. The first image is the "tease" front of the design. The tattoo actually began with an open lotus blossom on the lower back (scroll down). The dancer knew she wanted that. The challenge then became to create a wrap around pattern that would be bold, visible at a distance, and compatible with the lotus.

As you can see, the leaf pattern under the lotus was expanded and wrapped around to "vine" onto the belly. Hopefully I will be able to upload a picture of the finished color sometime soon.

The next posts should be of test results for various henna suppliers who have sent samples to the Studio. I am always looking for great henna powder, and to date.. the best sample tested for easy of use, great texture & good color is the Jamila powder. Test results are on the blog!

Nautical Star Tattoos

Nautical Star Tattoos
The nautical star tattoo is the most masculine design amongst star tattoos. Nautical star tattoos are considered old school. In the early days of tattooing, they used to be popular amongst sailors, who had them for guidance and protection. Sailor Jerry is a famous tattoo artist from those days.

The nautical star is a 5-pointed star, the points are split in half and filled with an alternating color (usually black-red or black-white), creating a 3d illusion.
Sailors used stars and the North Star (aka Polaris) for navigation, so it's not hard to see why so many of them have star tattoos. They function as a guide to get them back home safely. Soldiers have them for the same reason. Swallow tattoos also have a similar kind of nautical history.

Also today, people have star tattoos for similar reasons, you can rely on them when you are lost in your life, they are a light in the darkness.
In Ireland the nautical star is a symbol for good health, it's an old Pagan symbol you can find in certain Irish hospitals.

The nautical star tattoo has a special meaning in the gay and lesbian community. Some gay and lesbian people have a nautical star tattooed on their wrist as a sign of their disposition. The wrist is a place that can easily be covered by wearing a watch or a bracelet. Curiously, many celebrities have a star tattoo on their wrist (see further).

The nautical star is also a popular punk rock tattoo design.

Vampire Tattoo Designs

The design concept of a vampire tattoo is such that the artist can also add his creative touches freely. In case you want a Japanese or Chinese vampire tattoo, you could also get some words inscribed around it to further accentuate your belief or idea. The image of Dracula, the most famous vampire in the world, is a good tattoo idea as it portrays challenge, evil and fear, which in design form, can be very interesting.

Peacock Tattoo Designs For Girls

Peacocks are a beautiful and captivating bird. Their feathers have long been cherished and admired for the beautiful and striking colors. When peacocks shed their feathers they grow back even brighter and more beautiful, thus sustaining the power of the peacock image. This is part of the reason people are drawn to a peacock tattoo.

People want a peacock tattoo because they look good. The flurry of bright and brilliant color is attention getting. Peacocks have come to hold meaning as a symbol of accepting one’s own beauty. They are also a sign of authority and a regal manner. People who get a peacock tattoo are likely self-assured and proud. The peacock also holds religious meaning. It is an early Christian symbol for the resurrection of Christ.

There are variations of a peacock tattoo. There can be many different colors used and the tattoo can be of a whole peacock or just a peacock feather. Sometimes people use peacock feathers to adorn other tattoos, as well. The male peacock is the image used since females do not have the showy, bright colored feathers. Peacock tattoos can be put just about anywhere on the body, too. They are a great versatile image that lends itself to be able to be adjusted to fit the desires of the person.

Peacock tattoos are a common request. The proud and beautiful peacock is something to be admired, to be cherished. People who want a tattoo that expresses their love of life and show the world that they are proud and happy to be themselves may choose to get a peacock tattoo.

Zodiac Symbol Tattoo Designs

Have you ever given any thought to zodiac symbols when you've been browsing through catalogues of tattoos?

There are 12 signs of the zodiac and you will definitely be one of them.
Just select your birth date to see which sign you come under.

Aries = begins 21st March- ends 20th April
Taurus = begins 21st April - ends 21st May
Gemini= begins 22nd May - ends 21st June
Cancer = begins 22nd June- ends 22nd July
Leo = begins 23rd July- ends 23rd August
Virgo = begins 24th August- ends 22nd September
Libra = begins 23rd September -ends 23rd October
Scorpio = begins 24th October- ends 22nd November
Sagittarius = begins 23rd November- ends 21st December
Capricorn = begins 22nd December- ends 20th January
Aquarius = begins 21st January ends- 18th February
Pisces = begins 19th February ends- 20th March.

If you are on the cusp of any sign, as an astrologer would say (meaning for example that your birthday is 2oth April...are you then an Arian or a Taurean?) you may need to actively seek out an astrologer to find out exactly which sign you come under.

They'll definitely be able to tell you as they have charts going back years and years as to the exact dates of the change over of the signs.

Each sign of the zodiac carries with it specific traits etc and although horoscopes and astrology phone lines are popular entertainment; the science of astrology is quite complex and revered by many prominent people.

Certainly if you believe in things like' every thing happens for reason' then you'll also believe that we were born at a certain time for a reason and therefore under a specific star sign.

Tattoo fads and fashions come and go, so I always think it's best to have a tattoo that can't ever cease to be relevant and yet will always say something about you.

A lover's name or the date of a marriage may change or be regretted, but your birth date and hence your star sign will never change.

Look up the symbol for your sign; they are quite unique and individualistic as a choice for a tattoo.
