Henna Tattoo for the Foot - Bridal Style

Here is an example of a bridal style foot tattoo. This is a fairly traditional design.. and one that was fun & easy to do.

Of course, the most important part of successful henna tattoo is that the client is satisfied! In this case, I am happy to say that Miss Linda very much liked her mehndi.

I also feel that it is important to create a tattoo that "fits" not only the personality of the client, but also suits the part of the body that I am working with.

Come visit again as I have lots more photos to upload.

Henna Tattoo for Samadhi Belly Dancer

henna tattoo on the front of the belly
side view of lotus henna tattoo pattern
open lotus henna tattoo, lower back tattoo
side view henna waist tattoo I am always happy to have the chance to tattoo the belly, and I must thank all the tribal dancers of the Samadhi Dance troupe for supporting the art of henna tattoo here in Jacksonville, Florida!

Today I am posting pics of a wrap around belly tattoo. The first image is the "tease" front of the design. The tattoo actually began with an open lotus blossom on the lower back (scroll down). The dancer knew she wanted that. The challenge then became to create a wrap around pattern that would be bold, visible at a distance, and compatible with the lotus.

As you can see, the leaf pattern under the lotus was expanded and wrapped around to "vine" onto the belly. Hopefully I will be able to upload a picture of the finished color sometime soon.

The next posts should be of test results for various henna suppliers who have sent samples to the Studio. I am always looking for great henna powder, and to date.. the best sample tested for easy of use, great texture & good color is the Jamila powder. Test results are on the blog!

Nautical Star Tattoos

Nautical Star Tattoos
The nautical star tattoo is the most masculine design amongst star tattoos. Nautical star tattoos are considered old school. In the early days of tattooing, they used to be popular amongst sailors, who had them for guidance and protection. Sailor Jerry is a famous tattoo artist from those days.

The nautical star is a 5-pointed star, the points are split in half and filled with an alternating color (usually black-red or black-white), creating a 3d illusion.
Sailors used stars and the North Star (aka Polaris) for navigation, so it's not hard to see why so many of them have star tattoos. They function as a guide to get them back home safely. Soldiers have them for the same reason. Swallow tattoos also have a similar kind of nautical history.

Also today, people have star tattoos for similar reasons, you can rely on them when you are lost in your life, they are a light in the darkness.
In Ireland the nautical star is a symbol for good health, it's an old Pagan symbol you can find in certain Irish hospitals.

The nautical star tattoo has a special meaning in the gay and lesbian community. Some gay and lesbian people have a nautical star tattooed on their wrist as a sign of their disposition. The wrist is a place that can easily be covered by wearing a watch or a bracelet. Curiously, many celebrities have a star tattoo on their wrist (see further).

The nautical star is also a popular punk rock tattoo design.

Vampire Tattoo Designs

The design concept of a vampire tattoo is such that the artist can also add his creative touches freely. In case you want a Japanese or Chinese vampire tattoo, you could also get some words inscribed around it to further accentuate your belief or idea. The image of Dracula, the most famous vampire in the world, is a good tattoo idea as it portrays challenge, evil and fear, which in design form, can be very interesting.
